Was looking around some reviews and came across these benchmarks by extremetech.

Can anyone get anywhere near the scores hes posted? Most i can get at 1280x1024 4xaa 8x ansio (set in game settings) is 87.49 fps, whereas he's getting 107fps. Puzzling thing is hes using a dual core @ 2.4 ghz, far as im aware the source engine doesn't have support for dual core yet, my cpu;s clocked at 2.7 ghz and yet he's outpacing me by a good margin.

(benchmarks are done in the stress test btw)

I've just run the test to check mine mate

1280x1024 4xAA 8xAF -120.46fps on the stress test for me :D

My card is clocked to 690/800 using the CCC

All set to high, reflect all & HDR mode is also on,but i'm presuming this won't work with AA on

It drops to 107fps with 16xAF enabled

Are you sure the CCC is not overiding your in game settings, sound like it could be something like that

Hey Rob.
Where did you get that "64 bit mode active" in the top corner?
Is it something you need to install yourself, or does Steam take care of it?
I just re-installed my setup with Windows x64 and havent seen that yet myself.

Done the very same thing just the other day, thought it was about time i gave X64 a whirl

You just download your half life content & steam just puts it into 64bit mode, not sure how it works.

I did'nt use a backup of my steam folder,i just downloaded the whole HL2 content again & away i went

Another thing,Far Cry looks & runs amazing in 64bit mode with the 64 bit patches in ;)

Only thing i've tried so far

I don't have it on DVD,bought mine direct from steam. So i presume it may have to download extra content via steam to yours before it goes into 64 bit mode.

Not too sure though

This is most likley a stupid quistion but...

Do you have to be running Windows 64bit to be able to run games in 64Bit mode???

There is a workaround for far cry to enable you to play it with the 64bit mode/content on xp.
This is the only game i'm aware of that you can do this with & i've tried it myself, but to be honest it looks & plays much better now that i'm on X64 ;)

But i'm pretty sure you will have to have windows X64 running to run 64bit content on all else, although i may be wrong here

Crap thing about Windows 64x is finding compatible software...I can't even find any decent Antivirus solution at the moment...couldn't install my Norton because it's 32bit installer :(

I guess with all nice things, something has to be wrong with it :(

Hmm something must be wrong here then, even with 3d mark 06 im only scoring 4299.

I removed the previous card ran driver cleaner etc...might need a reinstall of windows possibly.

Ive the settings in ccc set to game preference, no hq aniso or adaptive fsaa. Not really sure whats going on to be honest. Think ill do a format and see what comes of it.

I run a 7900GT overclocked and i get 136 fps , same settings on a 1280x1024 display. I would assume you`d get more than 122. At 1680x1050 widescreen i get 115 fps.
