i have been to another RC event today, and got a big gust of dust.

any way there is quite a bit of it inside my casing around the mirror and viewfinder.

i have gotten the rocket blower on it and it just seems to blow it around rather than get it out

any body got any suggestions at all please.

do you need to use eclipse and pec pads on the mirror or are the cleaning packs you can buy from the usual camera shop,

the one i had bought for me, has a lens cloth, some cotton buds, cleanign fluid and a pack of lens cleaning tissues in it oh and a bulb ended brush

any advice would be apreciated

Maybe hold a hoover near by and use the blower to get the dust in the air.

 Wouldn't recommend that, the static from a hoover could do some serious damage to the internal electronics!
You can use less "professional" cleaning products on the mirror as it has no bearing whatsoever on the pictures, it is just a method of reflecting the image to your eye. But be extremely gentle, the mirror is spring loaded and finely balanced, use as little pressure as you can.

The bulb ended brush you have, throw away. Don't use that brush in your camera, use lint free pads (pec pads) and your rocket blower. The rocket blower has a no-dust valve and is generally far more "clean" than the bulb blowers.

yeah tried it upside down, back to front on its side

at one point i had the viewfinder free of dust, but not the mirror, and then a couple more puffs on the mirror, and the viewfinder has dust again, its doing my head in.

I guess I will have to order some pec pads, and put the camera away untill they come.

It is still usable, I coudl remove the dust in photshop, but its frustrating

You need to clean the sensor not the mirror/viewfinder to stop dust spots in your pics... Mirror dust is annoying but won't make it into your shots.

The camera will have a setting for cleaning which will flip the mirror up out of the way so you can get to the sensor and use a cleaning kit to remove dust.

whilst that makes sound sense, there are a couple of points id like to make.

I can see dust on the mirror

there was one spec of dust on the sensor, but that was showing as a blob not a spot, if that makes sense

the sensor looks completely clean (after I removed the one spec)

I dont really know how the mechanics work, but they are definatly moving around as i use the blower on it

I have done a search and found a UK supplier that sells eclipse fluid and pec pads.

But it doesetn seem to stock the sensor swipe stick things.

What do you guys use? and can you give me a clue where to get them from, overclockers definatly does not sell these things so I cant possibly be asking for a competitor
