Lost power....now no sound

I was doing some work when my PSU died. It took the PC offline with it.

As it died I had headphones on and I remember hearing a pulsating sound for a while.

Anyway, I removed the PSU and plugged directly. PC back on, everything normal.

.....but no sound.

I've tested the headphone with my IPOD, they are fine. I tried the ipod headphones also in the PC and no sound. Is there an effective way to troubleshoot this further?

I use my motherboard onboard sound. Asus P5k...
