Hi all,

The GF has lost her phone tonight at an event, and when called, goes straight through to answerphone. Now I'm hazarding a guess by saying the phone's been found and switched off - nobody at the event (bouncers/barpeople/organisers/etc) have had any phones handed in so I'm guessing it's been stolen by somebody.

Have just got on the phone to O2 and they've informed me they can restrict the SIM card, but might not be able to restrict the phone until 7AM. Does this pretty much mean that whoever took the phone can just chuck the SIM card and keep the phone?

Also, as I'm not sure if it's been registered with O2, can I provide the IMEI number tomorrow and they block it using that if the original SIM card isn't in the phone?

Thanks :)

untill 7? rubbish. i had to call 02 for a mate a few days ago and get his phone barred because he lost his on a night out. they barred the sim and phone straight away (this was about 2 in the morning), although he had to call durin working hours the next day to order a replacement phone.

The guy I just spoke to at O2 said that he'd placed a bar on the SIM to stop outgoing calls. When I asked him if the phone was barred too, he said the PAYG team would call me in morning to "discuss my options and get further details to bar the phone".

my flat mates got stolen when she was mugged last week. phoned o2 straight away and they said it was blocked. next morning phoned up to sort out a replacement and they said it hadnt been block.

It all depends who you get on the phone, ask them as soon as you get on the phone how long they been working there, work it into a conversation rather than just blurting it out you want to keep the op sweet, say something like "Hmm you sound really happy how long you been working at O2? I've been thinking about it myself!" etc....
