Hi ive just installed LOTR (shadows of Angmar) and then updated patches etc.

can someone please explain to me about the other lotr expansions packs?

Im assuming what i have installed SOA is the first title like the first wow?

Mines Of Moria, Siege of Mirkwood are the expansions do i have to level up to use the features like the wow expansion with TBC and WOTLK?

In other words do i need to download the 2 other expansions or wait till i hit a certain levels etc

You don't need other expansions untill you are at least level 45 for Moria or 55 for Mirkwood however at those levels you won't last long so it's safer to start Moria at 50 and mirkwood at 60 for the first time.
Iirc the only things locked for you will be the actual areas/level cap and skills that those expansion provide Also the amount of skirmishes you can do per day (need to be lvl 30) is limited not sure of the number and Warden/runekeeper classes might be locked.

Thats all i can think of.

the expansions offer higher level caps, skirmish modes(level 30+) and extra character slots. You can happily play through all the content upto level 50 and then buy the addons which will allow you access to new area's and continue the Epic Quest chain. If you enjoy the game they are worthy additions and the extra content is probably worth the outlay.

Thanks guys, hope this will leave up to its name,im currently playing wow which i love however i have played:

Aion/Star trek Online/Age Of Conan which have all failed in my eyes.

very strange this:

When i play the game in DX10 mode i get stuttering ive sat here for a good 1hr and whatever settings i use stuttering lag is present.
When Vsync/Tbuffering is turned on stuttering is pretty bad when its off, game is pretty smooth but stuttering is still present
Ive also used D3D Overrider to no avail

I then fired up DX9 mode (which by the way hardly looks any worse than DX10?)
I can enable Vsync Tbuffering and i can max out the settings and the stuttering is gone, very stange and dont understand this.
Only think i can think of is the DX10 shadows etc messes the game up but im sure there are thousands of players that use DX10 without any issues.

Overall i cant see any benefits running DX10 over DX9

Maybe because i have a new Video card (GTX 470) the drivers are the fault

I've used a GTX280 and a 285 with DX10 mode and no problems, so yeah, maybe it is a driver thing.

As far as the visuals go, the main thing really are that shadows are nicer in DX10 (you'll see detailed shadows cast over your character by trees/scenery/etc that aren't when in DX9).

Stuttering happened with the 4000 series in DX10 and it was due to the drivers.

can't comment on WoW, never played it but installing all the expansions at this stage will cause no issues and will save you doing it later.

Siege of Angmar - 50 level cap, finished in Angmar Volume 1 book quests
Mines of Moria - 60 level cap, legendary weapons, volume 2 epic book, more character slots, and gives you access to 2 more char types (warden and rune keeper?)
Siege of Mirkwood - 65 level cap

Nope, paid for. Caused a bit of grumbling when it came out too, since several of the free expansions had more to them than this did.

Didn't it get best expansion for 2009, and it came out in October/November?

It is download only.

Oh it's good, don't get me wrong. It's just that we were all a bit spoilt by the earlier free expansions. Forochel in particular was fantastic as a free update.
