LOTRO now free to play!

There should be a clear delineation made here here between simply levelling, and playing the game.

Yes, it is much more easy to get capped these days, however, simply soloing it will mean you miss out on some great content. I often wonder how much of the game people who cry out for more 65 content have actually played. I dare say it would quite a lot, but there are certainly those who have charged through the levels without ever bothering to stop and look around once in a while.

(btw, I realise we are arguing the same point. Just using you as a quote :) )

Absolutely agree, if you simply level solo you do miss out on some great group content, its simply the curse of the modern MMO that many MMO gamers these days arent overly interested in story and content whilst levelling up, they're simply interested in the quickest route to max level. Which I think is another part reason in why if there is solo content available so many people will just do the solo content and ignore the group content.

Not in my case Tombstone, i prefer soloing to being grouped, but if i need a group i won't hesitate to get into one but i will try every possible angle before i group up with people and the Epic Volumes which have soloing and grouping as an option i will always go for the solo option because it means i don't have to wait and have the hassle of trying to recruit people to take part in my quest.

I don't power grind or find the quickest routes to levelling, i choose the road which i prefer and i prefer soloing to grouping up with people because at least with soloing i can do the mission at my own pace as i find a lot of people take too long.

Thats why I said many and not all ;)

I do a bit of a mix of soloing (lets face it, sometimes we all just want to be alone) and grouping. I'm not fussed about having to wait for a group and not fussed about things taking too long, its not a race after all and I'm in no rush to level up, at least thats my attitude on MMOs. Everyone is different of course, thats one of the beauties of MMOs, but I do think that there should always be viable options, more levelling options can only be a good thing of course.

I'd love to see more MMOs doing the group XP bonus that Daoc did, some of the best times I've had in MMOs was just grouping up in Daoc, camping out some spawn area and just kicking back, pulling mobs from time to time and having a laugh chatting away. That sort of thing was encouraged by having the big XP bonus for simply being in a group, its a pity that so few other MMOs give you a bonus for being grouped up.
