Love the Beats Studio (Dr Dre) cans but not so much the price...

It gets boring here sometimes. Nobody seems to buy anything other than NS1000s or DR150s. They are the Mondeo of the headphone world TBH.:p

Lol, true. Blame all the competitors for the extortionate prices of the their headphones in the UK. If they where priced here what they are in the US, there would be a lot more choice sub £100.

I think the Sony headphones would have been good if i purely listened to dubstep, DnB, etc. but i don't. I went ahead with the Goldrings, if i don't like them i can always send them back.

Good point. The XB700's have plenty of bass, but I'd wager they are lacking in other areas. Goldring's might have less bass, but are good all rounders, so will suit other types of less bassy music.

Friend who does a lot of audio production work has recommended me, the Beyerdynamic DT770 pro.

Said they're a lot better than the more expensive Senheisers he replaced them with.

So I'll be ordering me a set of those and they're in your budget with some change. :)

I bought some second hand DT770 Pro (80 ohm) off the MM about 2 months ago. I didn't like them at first, but now I just love them. They might not be as good as my Senn HD600s, but they are so much more fun.

Also, regarding the NS1000's, I had a pair but got rid as I didn't like them. Although if you like the sound they are an excellent buy which is why everyone mentions them in threads like these.

Thanks for all the extra info guys but i went ahead with the Goldrings, for £50 i don't think you can go wrong. If i don't like them i will check out the Beyerdynamic DT770/990 Pro, although looking at them i don't know if they are the kind of things i would walk the streets in (definately more studio headphones) and if not them then i've been watching the Beats Studio on the bay and they seem to sell for ~£120...

Just be careful buying Beats off the bay, as there are quite a few fakes floating around.

Another headphone worth considering is the Shure SRH840. Quite a lot of love for them over at Headfi. This would really be an alternative to the Beyers (and can be had a lot cheaper than the £212 RRP).

More portable (closed) headphones are Audio Technica's ESW7/ESW9. These are meant to be very good.

None of the above have noise cancelling though, and hopefully you won't need them either after receiving the Goldrings.

I'll have a look at them just incase :)
Is there a way to prove that headphones are not fakes? I did as someone who was selling some for £150 and she said there is a serial on the battery cover which fakes don't have but surely if a company can manufacture an accurate copy then they can work out how to put a little serial code on! aha

I have a pair of Dr Dre beats..my brother picked me up a pair when he came over from Canada, he travels a lot around America so asked him to get me a pair, cost me around £150 i think...i find them perfectly fine for my music that i listen to ie rnb and hip hop...the bass is just about right and isnt over powering..same with the treble.

Only thing i dont like about them is that they are pretty light and arent exactly the strongest headphones out there...have to be careful as they can and will break if you start throwing them around.

I keep mine in the carry case they came with so that they are nice and protected when not in use.

Absolutely love my Dre studios...looked at Senns and other headphones but none of them appealed to me in all honesty.

Well i got my NS1000's yesterday and a love them! :D They feel a lot sturdier than the beats and i'm glad they're not folding like the beats.
Good buy i say! I think i'm going to put off buying an amp until i'm not as happy with them.

I keep seeing these overpriced things in shops and can't believe people buy them, people need to do a little thing called research when spending so much money.

Good to hear. You only really need an amp if you want to use them without noise cancellation.
