I'm shopping around for a new head unit and thought, hey why not just get a full system.

Ideally i wan't to hook my ipod up to the head unit and control it through the head unit however after trying some in halfords at the weekend i was seriously unimpressed..... they didn't have many to try though.

As for speakers, i've no idea what i'm after. The standard two in the back and two in the front. I can't be bothered with the whole listen to my bass thing, plus i like my boot....i'm too old :p I perfer quality instead of boom.

The most important thing for the speakers is for them to be low profile, i don't want people breaking my windows for them!

As for price range? I've no idea, it depends on what gear you guys suggest, lower cost is more realistic though :D

Get a set of components/tweeters that are a direct replacement for your door speakers (the components anyway, you'll most likely have to use pods for the tweeters unless your car came with some?), and a 2ch amp.

Headunit is personal preference really, I prefer simple styling and something that fits in with my dash lights, so I went for the Pioneer DEH-P55BT (can change the colour to a range of colours, so fits in with most cars, mines red), which has a built in bluetooth carkit, and (with an addon) has ipod control. That plus my CD-Changer means I really never run out of music that I want to listen to! :)

Probably 10cm speakers at a guess. Just whip the grilles off the door speakers and get a tape measure on them :)
