Lower drink drive limit

Just make it nothing, wouldn't bother my, why even risk it?
There needs to be some allowance for those that have been drinking the night before who have alcohol traces in their system but are still way below the actual current limit.

A zero limit would end up causing far too much confusion, some poor bugger gets done for drink driving for using mouthwash before heading out for the day. :p

Whilst I don't drink if I know I'm going to be driving, I think there needs to be some small amount of tolerance, which is basically what we have now.

If they have some research that shows the current levels are too high, and need lowering, IMO they should have a lower tier of punishment (e.g. points) as I think at the moment the minimum is a 28day ban?

Hmm, not sure how to interpret that comment, it wouldn't surprise me if I'm thinking correctly.

I welcome the decision.

I don't condone drink driving, I was just opening up the thread to a wider debate.

It would be worse than that, everyone produces alcohol naturally, Thus it can't be zero.

So they want to cut it the limit to a half pint

Thoughts?

I think it's ridiculous.

Not at all. A great thing IMO and think it quite odd why anyone would think otherwise.
Alcohol and cars don't mix on any level at all (well except when its fuelling a drag racer or something LOL)

This would affect me as I occasionally have a pint or two with a meal and drive. Not the end of the world but my view is that anything which turns ordinary, currently law abiding citizens into criminals is a "bad thing".

Yeah, funny that, I used to enjoy a cigarette inside a pub and then a walk home, but that one was made illegal too. LOL. Filthy, child killing drink drivers etc. etc. :p

Why woud you think it's ridiculous though?

Some people can't even handle a pint.

Someone feel free to correct me here, but the way I understand it is that the current limit is not based on pints or units but the amount of alcohol in the blood (80mg/100ml) or breath. Therefore, someone who gets "a bit tipsy" off a pint or so, would have more alcohol in their blood than someone who holds their drink better. Thus they would be over the limit?

There's a good, common sense drink drive limit already well established.

Don't.

There needs to be some allowance for those that have been drinking the night before who have alcohol traces in their system but are still way below the actual current limit.

This is something people need to be aware of though - I drank about 15 shots of a 50% proof alchohol in one evening - I didn't drive for a day and a night, not worth the risk! :D
