Lower or higher spec Ryzen build as undecided

I'm using an old 15" HP laptop running an i5 6200 and thought I'd try and build myself a pc. This was a year ago and without getting a gpu I still haven't built anything yet.
I was going to go down the route of X570 motherboard, Ryzen 7 5800x or 9 5900x with 32gb of ram. However, as AMD now saying Q4 2022 is the release date of their new silicon with AM5 motherboards, DDR5 ram etc, thought maybe it would be better getting an Ryzen 5 5600x with a B550 board and 16gb Ram, save myself the extra cost and put it into upgrading a couple of years down the line. I'm not waiting another year(hopefully gpu's become reasonably priced by then) so need something.
I take it the ryzen 5 is more than capable for a few years? And can anyone suggest a good B550 mobo.
the only things I know I'll put in is a
Corsair 5000x case(maybe a Lian Li o11 but had a lian li last time so though a change would be nice)
WD SN850 1TB m.2 pcie4...they seem to be cheaper than the samsung pro 980's with similar read/write speeds
A Corsair RM 850x psu to future proof myself a bit.
Targeting a 3070 at the mo for gpu(guess I need to post a lot more, though sure I posted many years ago when i built my last pc as bought components from OC back then, but had to re-join a year ago so starting from scratch).
A Corsair 150 i elite liquid cpu cooler
Going to be lit up like a christmas tree:cool:...didn't have anything like that for last build but thought it would be fun this time
Anyway, any thoughts appreciated

If you havnt got a gpu then your going to need one for a ryzen build , intel have igpu and there 11th gen 6 cores a great value.

Ddr5 is expected on intels alderlake cpu and not till 2022 for AMD.

5600x is a great cpu and is all you need for gaming but intels 11400 cpu are great value and compete.

You dont need a pcie4 m2 A decent value pcie3 will be fast enough like the westeten digtal sn 550 also great value. Pcie4 drivers speeds are only real suited for reading and writing from one fast m2 to another fast m2 where time is critacal.

I can spec you up something if you like but you really need to get a gpu .

If you pick up a 11400 + B560 you will save about £100 over a 5600X also the 11400 comes with an igpu so you can use it till you manage to pick up a GPU and in terms of a card like the 3070 performance will be almost identical between the CPUs.

AM4 makes more sense if you planning to keep the set up for 5 years or so but if your looking for a stopgap for a year or two till the next gen DDR5 platforms then Intel makes more sense for price performance.

I need to get to at least 50 posts I think now for the latest 3070 that OC have in stock. ScottieB just sent me a link for a prebuild they have with a 3070ti in it for £1680, but I want to use that as a last resort. I'd rather build it myself. i think it helps when things go wrong, plus it's fun snd the kids can help a little, and learn to appreciate pc's a bit better

Ahh, good to know it has built in graphics...for some reason I always choose AMD for my build...maybe i like rooting for the underdog

If i was building now with no gpu this is what id get excluding the parts youve mentioned.

CODE
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £510.46 (includes shipping: £10.50)

If you have any old graphics cards lying around from old PC before the laptop you could consider using those and going for the 11400F to save some cash as they may outperform the onboard video dependent on what they are.

thanks, will take a look. Also is there much difference between the elite cooler on the 150i xt cooler...just can't see where the price diference comes in?

My last build was an athlon 32 bit, so over 20yrs ago .i had a geforce card i think though might of been a voodoo running windows 98..anyway, I took it all down to the tip a few months ago as my wife told me to get rid...Been sitting around for years collecting dust. then a dell which i got rid of, a 27" imac which failed and currently a laptop which just froze for 15mins trying to open 40 jpeg images from a photographer

just thought pcie4 drive would be more future proof as one of the components you can easily take with you as you upgrade. Saw it for £158 so didn't seem to unreasonable, and gpu going to be the big cost
