M4 firmware 0309 is now available

This is what I used to flash via USB (I don't have a DVD drive)

Download the ISO from Crucial
Then get this tool

http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/

Step 1 Scroll down to the bottom. Select 'Try Unlisted Linux ISO (New Syslinux)'
Step 2 Extract the Crucial ISO file from the zip file, point the program at the ISO file
Step 3 Select the USB drive letter.

Reboot and boot from the USB stick
Create

I found I had to format my usb stick to FAT32 beforehand, but other than that, this worked perfect :)

So impressed by crucial, liked all the fanboys with that "ah-ha M4's are just as bad as OCZ" thread, and we get the last laugh when crucial release a firmware in days which is easy to do as falling off a log, lol

Nobody has remarked that they released a drive with a bug this big in it !

The very leasdt they could do is to release a patch PDQ. Imagine the headache for a company with say 100 or 200 of these drives in the field with unskilled users or worse in server critical storage arrays.

All patched here on a Mac Pro. Was a little dubious it would work, but it all went successfully :)

Just some info for any other Mac users, my SDD was located in the optical bay and the firmware updater picked it up without a problem.

Just done my first SSD firmware update which I found to be a relatively painless task. I am one of the unlucky ones who had to switch to IDE and accidently ended up booting through to Windows, man I forgot how slow it is and I had to reboot twice to twice back to AHCI mode. My update was done via a burnt CD; I have not done that for a long time. If you know what you’re doing the whole process should take no more than 10 minutes including the CD. I found the guidance notes from Crucial way too detailed, made the task appear much harder that it is in reality; still got to give them top marks.

If i have this plugged into the white sata 6gbps port will it update on that port or not?
Just wondering as ive tried it like this and it comes up with errors on the usb boot method and the cd boot method.
Also ive tried putting it to ide etc and still no luck...

I havnt had chance to pull out the pc and plug it into a standard sata port as yet to try so I thought ide ask the question on here first...

Thanks

just flashed mine 2x64 m4's it was a toddle(simple)
if am right of thinking it will not work on 6gbps port @ 1st i tried to do this but upon booting did not pick up,so i remove ssd lead and put it in a lower slots (on mine asus it the light blue) rebooted and all done only took sec's

on the Crucial Firmware Update Guide it says
Note: The upgrade process will not work with some drop-in HBAs (Host Bus Adapters) or 6.0 Gb/s ports. If your drive is
not identified properly (see Step 3 under “Run the Firmware Update” section below.

Its not working for me. :( I put the .iso on a disk, etc, but when i go to the boot menu and select the disk drive, the board comes up with a black screen for half a second before booting windows. I don't think its the firmware its self that is causing the problem, the optical drive doesn't really even sound as if it actually bothers to read anything, as it starts making the reading sound after i get into windows(which takes 3 seconds to boot).

Anyone have any clues? Thanks in advanced

did you burn the iso file on a disc, or did you burn the iso to the disc?

there is a substantial difference... i dont know how to explain it better than that tbh :p
