Hi, anyone connecting there mbp to a23" cinema display? I am looking to do this at work as i am finding that i am working more and more on my lappy and not on my work xp machine :p

What i would like to know is, the resolution for the 23's are 1920 x 1200 will i get other resolution options to chose from when i connect the screen other than the max of 1680 x 1050 that i currently have?

Also, in connecting to another screen will my 2gb ram be fine still or will i suffer a bit of a performance hit? Good excise to upgrade to 4gb!

Any other advice that people can give who have done this would be cool. Was looking at getting the bluetooth keyboard, any advice on this?

thanks

Last week I connected my 15 inch MBP to my work 17" monitor. As soon as I connected a second Display preferences window opened. So in System prefs there is 1 icon but when you click on it 2 windows appear, each with different monitor IDs and different resolutions.

Yeah, i have connected mine to another monitor and is prety cool the way that it does it. Just that my Dell monitor is the same res as my mbp so, was asking if the higher res's opened up when another screen is attached.

It went up to 1600*1200, which my MBP doesn't support, but only in the secondary display's preferences panel.

Why would you need more ram to increase the resolution of your screen? That really doesn't make any sense.

Get more ram if you find your applications are using it all.
The graphics card on the MBP will be able to handle most output except the 1920 x 1200 and above as I thought that needed a dual dvi to output? I may be wrong here.

the question with the ram was that if i was asking my mbp to power a higher res monitor for day to day work, would people recommend upgrading the ram to 4gb.
