Wasnt there a time when you had to pay extra for glossy? Now you have to pay extra for the 'matte' antiglare???

I know i need to make a direct comparison but with the new LED displays is there still a really noticable change in vibrancy and saturation of colours with the now standard Glossy screens? Or am i effectively loosing out paying for the matte (if i can call it that)?

I will be doing a bit of media work on it if i decide to go ahead :)

Thanks

I went to an apple store the other day and looked at the two side by side and i couldnt really tell a difference in vibrancy and saturation.... maybe the glossy edged it a little but i might be biased in saying that as it is ment to be more vibrant etc.....

The thing you will notice is the glare from the glossy screen..... it was very noticeable in the apple store as it is very bright in there however it wasn't a problem for me.....

I would advise you to go to a store.... Some people on here will say glossy and some will say matt. In store however they told me they only do the matt on the 15" upgraded versions not the 13" and bog standard 15"

I got an MBP Glossy, but have just changed it for a non glossy version.
I think you need to check them out for yourself.

Personally I think the non glossy looks better picture wise, but not as slick with the silver screen surround.

I have a side by side picture if your interested?

yep im interested:)

only reason why im more picky this time round is because when i had a Vaio with a glossy screen whilst presenting round a table nobody cud see the screen!

ahh thanks for that - really helpful photo. i see what u mean about the silver bezel. makes it look like an old skool macbook pro :(

theyre not the same wallpaper are they? wud be nice if they had the same wallpaper?

on looks alone im swayed by the gloss, i guess usability wise will be a bit of a compromise....

Dont think the wallpaper is exactly the same.
Left is running Snow Leopard, one of the right has been reformated with Leopard and now boxed up to go back to Apple.

I don't find the glossy screen on Macbook an issue at all. All you have to do is angle it correctly and you won't see any glare or reflection.

Don't think I would be able to have my main 24" monitor glossy though, as I think it would just get a bit annoying. :o
