Yep we used to use them each year when going on holiday to Europe. They were noisy and not very smooth but awesome machines. One year two engines failed and we had to get back sideways

Yes it is! The clue is in the title of the video.
The high pitched sound is the Valenta turbocharger and the lower pitched sound is the Marston cooler fan revving up Man I loved those trains before the TOCs started putting MTU engines in them

I was at Kemble a month back when it did an impromptu display - apparently a training sorte.
Amazing to see and hear, and the way virtually everyone stopped and went silent. I cannot think of any modern aircraft that provokes quite that type of response.
