the lack of demo's at the moment is my point and press covergaee of a game is someone elses opinion and is totaly different to actually having first hand experiance. i dled mass effeet one a few weeks ago tried it and have just purchased 1 and 2 from steam as i liked it.

Yeah but what about the other games you tried out and didn't buy? You can't go into a cinema watch a film and then only pay for it if you liked it. Lets face it if the world worked like that all of us would be a lot more choosey on what we spend our hard earned on when we can put that money towards new experiences.

the fact that ive spent over £400 on steam backs me up that i am not a pirate

Negative. Makes no difference how much you've spent on steam, because your still a pirate. If you buy a Ferrari and then steal three are you not a car thief?

You've blatantly pirated a game. Regardless of "Oh I'm just trying it out".

You are a dirty pirate.

Mafia 2 has a demo. Derp Derp.

mafia 2 had a demo as has already been pointed out, and im not stealing as i have not taken anything from anyone onl a copy and they would not get my money if i did not so they are only benefiting from this, if i didnt try me1 i wouldn't have gone out and bought me1 and 2.

OMG that's illegally acquiring a bit of software due to lack of payment, ergo stealing.

Does nobody seem to get that point that developers are benefiting from this as i would not have spent my money on their game if i hadn't of tried it.

Makes no odds I'm afraid pal. The fact is you're getting the game illegally to 'try', what you do after that is ethically irrelevant. Because the deed is done, the kitten has died, and you are a pirate.

Try stealing from a shop, trying the goods, then returning them saying you decided you didn't want them - or even that you did and trying to pay. Just because it's digital it makes no odds, people still put money and effort into making that data, and you're just taking it.

Plus for every one you 'try' and buy, there'll be ten others you don't.

Stealing isn't the same as copyright infringment, let's get it right, yeah?

Ok how is me pirating a game to try and then buying it bad, i still buy the dammed game? to be fair its a lot better than console owners renting a game or buying it second hand off a shop or someone on the members market as the manufeacturer only selss one copy in that case and that is to the original owner.
