Make of ocuk 7900gtx?

On paper the 7800gtxs will beat a single 7900gtx fairly comfortably (in fact 2 7800gts will give the 7900gtx a run for its money), but if you're having problems with SLi then this won't be too much of a downgrade.

I'm kind of bound to agree. The X1900s run the game better and can enable AA + HDR (though with both on it'll run slower than the 7900gtx just running one or the other). It'll still be slower than your 7800gtxs, but for Oblivion not by much as you're probably CPU limited anyway.

yeah seen that the 1900xtx is good for it, just want to keep with sli now as my mobo has been rock solid and I dont want to get a crossfire one as I have had no probs with sli and got used to it

Well, the 7900gtx will still nuke it and it'll look great on max settings up to 1600x1200 (ini tweaks may be needed to make really smooooth though).

Having said that, the pair of 7800gtxs will almost certainly (not having actually seen benchmarks comparing this line up) still be quicker.

Getting pretty good fps at 1680 x 1050 with it at the mo, just that they are good price at the mo.
Also heard that conroe will not support sli, so will that make nvidia redundant with it as this is one processor I am seriously interested in

Hi there

All OcUK 7900 GTX's are retail boxed. Our current inventry is made up mainly of XFX and Point of View models. They are all built by NVIDIA cards and great overclockers. :)

My 2 7800GT's still obliterate every game out there... apart from Oblivion which they still play really well (just not at 70+fps! :D ) so I can't see the need to upgrade from 2 7800GTX's! If I were you I'd save them untill something big comes along, they'll most certainly last you a good while!

IMO, the OCUK 7900GTX will be just as good as any other branded 7900GTX.

No matter what card you get, Oblivion will need some INI tweakage to run smoothly in outdoor areas though :)

Hmmm in two minds now, think I will wait and see what the situation is with conroe and nvidia sli when it comes out. Thanks everybody for your input made me hold off on the buy button.....for now that is.

Conroe won't run SLI, at least not for some time. Nvidia have said that "Intel chipsets do not provide enough bandwidth to support SLI"

Lol basically their way of saying 'BUY OUR CHIPSET!!!! ITS BETTER THEN INTEL!'

Which I have to agree with. The nVidia chipsets do seem to be rather shiny and nice (Having said that I've got a R480 :p )

Damn, cheers intel for announcing a stonking processor and us lot with sli are going to have to dump our cards. Hopefully by then a card with 1 gig of ram on and power equivalent to 2 x 7900gtx will be released (live in hope)

Oh, it'll happen. Maybe not at the launch of conroe, but before this time next year it'll happen most likely.

Any brand can blow up, its just a very unlucky thing to happen. Considering OcUK use XFX as well for their own brand sometimes and XFX are rated as one of the best NVIDIA partners there is. :)
