So we're about a month away from having an almost new living room. I put the TV wall bracket up over the weekend which is on the fireplace stack. We've dug out and boarded the fireplace recess so all the AV gubbins will sit in there on shelves underneath the TV. Drilling the hole through to the chimney and down was pretty satisfying, and I'm basically using some 40mm waste pipe as a cable tidy/protector.

There'll be 6 plug sockets within the fireplace which should be enough for TV, amp, router, PS4, TV box and sub (though this may sit outside the recess). Enough? The only cables going up to the TV will be power, 1x HDMI (ARC) and Ethernet.

I'm going to run the two rear speaker cables just straight along the floor before the carpet is fitted. Will there be any problems with that? We're having 11mm underlay.

And then we've just got Virgin Fibre at the moment, a whopping £37.98pm's worth for just internet. We're planning on hosting friends, a lot, so I'm probably in the market for TV from Virgin/Sky/BT. Which is the best and what deals are there to look out for? I'm swung by BT Sport which can be had for £44.99pm. £100 cashback on Quidco makes it cheaper than what I'm paying now. Is the BT box any good?

Pimp my living room!
