A good heavy sledge hammer / fell axe / splitting maul / hatchet / sharpening tool all pass the man test too. Use the axe to chop up the logs into smaller logs, log splitting contests are always good for a giggle over a few beers, and you can burn them on the BBQ when all the animals have been consumed...
