Hi guys, after a bad day at the office I decided to rewire the house and in my efforts managed to drop kick my rig off its plinth (dont ask) and as a result destroyed my primary disk.

Rather than popping a new disk in, I have been putting an upgrade off for a good 6 months now, so time to upgrade asap.

After two days of hunting around reading various reviews etc I have managed to decide on only 2 things :(

1 x E6750
1 x 8800GT

I have a decent case and PSU etc but just need the mobo and RAM. I was convinced on a ASUS P5KC AiLifestyle Series iP35 and then a Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R but discovered a few problems with both of them and am having cold feet :(

From what I understand The asus boards have lots of memory compatability problems not to mention the most stupid place to mount the IDE socket. The gigabyte boards have a habit of blowing up apparently....

I like the idea of both them boards as they support DDR2 memory and DDR3, so the next upgrade would be rather easy and cheaper. I also want to clock the E6750 too, Im not the greatest overclocker in the world, have done a little bit in the past and managed to get just under 3.4GHZ out of a Intel Core 2 Extreme Quad QX6850 for a client but I think that was more luck than anything else!

So anyways, my real question to you guys is, recomend me a motherboard?

If your feeling really helpful a (2GB) memory recomendation would be good too, althou a reply of 6400 or 8500 would do nicely.

I need to get up and running as soon as i can tbh, amazing how much you miss your games rig when its dead, so will be placing an order tomorrow.

Cheers
Daman

I can't see much point in the 6750 tbh when for an extra £40 you could have a Q6600 G0.

I'd go for a P35 based board, the Asus P5KC or Gigabyte P35C DS3R both offer DDR2/3 support and are well priced, being P35 based the Quad core overclocking potential is excellent,as it will also be if you decide on the 6750.

As far as memory goes either of the 2GB sets in This Week Only would do the job.

I have the Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R and have personally never found a problem with it. Tbh, I've only had it for 2 months, but haven't had problems at all on it, so I recommend it!

Gigabyte make solid stable boards. I've had 3 in my time, and never had a problem with any of them.

GeIL 2GB PC6400 is really the only RAM worth buying at the moment, since its so cheap.
