Manchester to Blackpool Bike Ride

Its this Sunday starting near Old Trafford and finishing in Blackpool, I am doing it for a hospice in my area and never done this before but did the Manchester 100 a few years back.

Anybody else doing it or done it and what to expect?

Aye doing this. Kick off 7.30 for me though you will have to get there well before your start time to actually start at that time especially if you are later on. There will be thousands. Bring money for water stations but I wont be stopping, just carry some gels and a couple of bottles. There is't really much to surprise you. Course is relatively flat , just a bit around Ecclestone and standish about half way through.

I am amazed at the amount of sponsorship coming in. Christies is a well supported charity in my area. I was just expecting £1 and 50p's ( thats what I usally give

) but nearly everyone is giving £5 and £10+

Will be doing the Manchester 100 this year too.

I live around Standish area so I am use to the terrain their I cycle it everyday.

The Manchester 100 was very hilly and hard work, we turned up late for that after the driver got lost so everybody had gone.

Should be okay going on semi-slicks. How long are you aiming to take over it? Looks like a nice ride.

Only heard about this one recently, so maybe next year.

If it's anything like Liverpool > Chester > Liverpool last weekend, expect a huge variety of bikes and riding abilities. Watch out for people suddenly swerving as you go past them!

Aye, we set off late on the Manchester 100 and caught up to a lot of novice riders, just going to take it easy as the hospice has said the coaches will only leave when they are full so I am not waiting round like I did at the Manchester 100, I finished first and had to wait 3 hours in the rain under a tree for the last person to finish.

Back, was class, not it too much pain apart from catching the sun on my arms and face and the statutory circles round the eyes were the sunglasses where. Didn't rain all day and the sun came out around Blackpool, saw a couple of people panned out on the floor from crashes, one was serious around Aspull, guy got hit by a car, raised £105.

Yeah, last night it was killing me but plastered it with aftersun and today its not as bad, a bit tender but no pain.
