Hi all,

Just sorting out / cleaning all my camera kit and I've come across this which I got with my tripod (Manfrotto 190XProB):

Anyone know what this is for? I Have a feeling it might be to do with attaching the carrying strap, but I can't see anywhere on the tripod for it to screw in?

I'm starting to consider the possibility that it isn't :p. I did a search on here and TP before posting, and there was someone on TP who posted the same thing but with an 055 and strap kit, and had no replies. Anyway, I've now had the entire tripod apart and back together and there's definitely nowhere for it to go, guess it won't be living my camera bag anymore!

Yes, its a 'standard' piece which comes with all Manfrotto straps. I am presuming you bought a kit with tripod/head/strap? The metal screw is not used on the 190xDB; instead the plastic clip on the strap connects to the plastic loop around the top of the tripod. Keep it, just in case you do upgrade as it screws into the top of the bigger Manfrottos. (the weightier ones do not have a plastic loop). :)
