Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase Two

A few scenes can really make the difference in a film (one of the best examples is Donnie Darko imo, I thought the DC was poor, the sequence of scenes was changed fairly heavily and it didn't work as well imo)

How though? What possibly could the extra what 10-15 minutes? possibly add to the film to form such a transformation?

Soundtrack, Scene placement. KoH didn't have 15 minutes, it was 45 minutes longer, and the sequence of scenes and addition really fleshed it out nicely. Much improved.

Not every Director's Cut is a massive change, but some do, Daredevil was a subtle one that paid off. KoH was a massive change.

Remember this Extended Lord Of The Rings are all Director's Cuts. The Cut the director would like to have put to cinema but the studio decided wasn't right, in LoTR's case, massively long to sit in a cinema, especially for children.

Extra footage can add extra context, giving the film more substance often improving the overall narrative.

I dunno, maybe you're right I just can't imagine anything other than another 3 hours thus making the original runtime seem insignificant improving the rubbish that was Afflecks Daredevil :p

Have yet to watch a Directors Cut, but having just read some of the comments, it seems I may have missed the extra's that would have given more meaning to a film which I'd thought had a less a substance to it.?

From what I've read the Directors Cut of The Avengers puts a different perspective on the characters in the spotlight, giving more time to see Cap's adjustment to modern times and I think more into Ruffalo. Want it to come around to cinemas but don't know what is happening with it just yet..

I'm a big Hulk fan, but I'm not confident he could stand another movie alone. I like Ang Lee's take and I flat out love the Ed Norton film, but there's only so much you can watch of "I have all this power, I can't control it... Possible Cure? Oh wait, I'm needed to take on something bad... I must always be alone..." (saying all that though, a planet hulk story could be decent...)

As for Thanos, there's so much laid down that could make him the big bad of this second chunk, as speculation of the perfect Xanatos Gambit would suggest. Coupled with Fox pretty much needing Galactus as a staple for FF if they can get a reboot together...

The Spiderman thing (so far as I understand it) is that Sony really want to hang on to it for at least 3-4 more movies, and build their own megamash, introducing new villains till they can hit up the Sinister Six.

I'm pretty sure the Infinity Gauntlet was seen in the Hall of Asgard in the first Thor film, so I think we're likely to get Thanos in Thor 2 for at least a scene or two, if not as the big bad of the whole thing.
