Massive blast in Beirut

Corbyn’s friends were well aware of that big store and the potential for it:


Wonder if having it there (ignoring safety concerns that perhaps lead to this tragedy) was useful to them.

Likewise would be interesting to know if the fireworks factory/warehouse thing from the initial reports is true or not of if it was perhaps a munitions store (perhaps again for said friends of Corbyn) that caused the initial fire/smaller explosions.

He's talking about Haifa, in Israel. There's an ammonia factory there.

I expect you to pop up in the Nvidia thread once the 3080ti is out and somehow get the lack of performance upgrade over 2080ti to be Corbyns fault

It's getting a bit tedious though. I am not sure if you have noticed but Corbyn is no longer the leader of the Labour party?

This is really random, from a guitar forum, there is a guitar pedals maker call ThorpyFX (MBE!), the designer is an explosive expert who worked in the British Military and to quote him on his background if anyone is interested.

I spent 17 years qualified as an explosive specialist working with all forms of explosives, My bachelors degree specialised in explosives chemistry and materials science. The Army's course to qualify as an Ammunition Technical Officer was 18 months long, i then worked in the field before completing two masters degrees, one in Explosives Ordnance Engineering and the other in Battlespace technology

No doubt Hezbollah knew the ammonium nitrate was there, a long with thousands of other people who read the news about the ship Rhosus that was forced into the port due to technical issues in 2013, subsequently impounded and then abandoned by it's owner and the contents removed and stored in the warehouses at the docks awaiting export and / or safe disposal.
 
I think there is no underhanded motive here, and I do like conspiracy theories. But this was purely an avoidable accident which was the result of the inaction of a selfish government who care more about themselves than their people.

That said, the NH4NO3 was there for six years. They were aware of the danger, and must have just accepted any risk and brushed it under the carpet.

Thats the problem when you have an incompetent government sidetracked by other issues. Simple things to you and me can easily get messed/forgotten about.

Yes the Govt have said there will be an investigation into why so much "explosive" was stored for so long in unsafe conditions right next to a major population centre and I am sure the usually "lessons will be learnt" will be spoken.

But after so many cladding fires in the UK, are our Govt any less inept or culpable after the Glenfell Tower fire and that even 3 years on there are still 246 high rise buildings clad in the same cladding which still havent been repalced.

I mean really, just think of the apparent "logic" train on this to get to your "logical" end point - Israel was apparently completely happy to leave a huge store on ANFO completely alone for weeks/years (depending on which story you read), it then waited until some fireworks containers also just happened to be put in exactly the right place, then it waited again until a fire broke out in the fireworks container, and then (and only then) did it suddenly decide that the ANFO had to go and order a missile strike, with no prep time for aircraft to be loaded and launch, or be observed in the nearby airspace, or for anyone in Israel to Tweet "hey did anyone just see that missile launch????" etc. Or was it all really just an Israeli secret operation in the first place, where they got the ANFO confiscated first, then to got it stored in that particular silo, then got the fireworks stored next to it, then started a fire, then called in a missile strike once the fireworks got going for "cover" and all so that they can destroy a port, kill hundreds and garner worldwide condemnation whilst also trying to through people off the scent by being one of the first nations to offer aid?

This seems to be an ever growing issue with a lot of people. They want to find something and not believe what they are being told... Much like 9/11 where people would find things in the low quality footage and disregard eye witness reports. Some of the CT’s like fake planes, plans weren’t even there, controlled demolitions etc were completely nuts. But they’d still buy into them despite the official explanation making more sense.

Unfortunately people will just seem to find things where they want to find them. :/

Or the outer part was simply destroyed by the blast, and the loose grain inside effectively absorbed the blast preventing it from destroying the inner wall.

So you accuse dowie of bringing Corbyn into something that has nothing to do with him, but it’s ok for you to then start bashing our government in a thread about an incident that also has nothing to do with them.

To be fair, there's at least some comparison. The original Corbyn post linked a tweet talking about a completely different country, yet seemed to be under the impression it was related?
