My mum is having major problems with skydrive in windows 8.1.

It keeps creating new skydrive folders, e.g if you look at her hard drive it contains:

    Skydrive 20/01/2014 20:28
    SkyDrive (2).old 05/12/2013 11:35
    SkyDrive (3).old 05/12/2013 18:27
    SkyDrive (4).old 05/01/2014 20:12
    SkyDrive (5).old 07/01/2014 13.24
    SkyDrive.old 05/12/2013 09.13

It keeps failing to sync properly and creating all these new folders.

The oldest folder is 25gb in size and the more recent ones are around 2gb, so they dont actually contain all the files they are supposed to. I think that this has messed up whatever is stored in the cloud as well, because my mum cant open some of the files in her most recent skydrive folder, e.g she can see them in the folder but when she clicks on them they wont open.

    She gets the error message:

Error 0x80040A41: Nor error description available

This happened initially a few months ago. I followed the advice in this thread:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...n/d83306c8-7383-44d5-8d9d-81b0ec4dd849?page=1

    reg add HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CLSID\{8E74D236-7F35-4720-B138-1FED0B85EA75}\ShellFolder /v Attributes /t reg_dword /d 0x00100000 /f

This seemed to clear up the problem for around a month, but it has obviously now come back.

Anyone have any experience of this problem? Can you shed any light on what is going on or suggest what to do?

For now I am going to try that regedit again, and amalgamate all the skydrive folders, but I am worried that the problem will just re-occur again.

I am thinking it might be a good idea to try a clean install of windows 8.1. My mums computer was upgraded from 8 to 8.1 but i didnt do a clean install.

It's probably a typo (I'd have to guess that tylhen is meant to be then), but uninstalling and reinstalling can't be done for skydrive on windows 8.1 as it's integrated into the OS.
