Off to my first live game today, Saints v Blackpool and I'm wondering if I'm to be faced with meat pies and cups of Bovril (not that I'm complaining) at half time?

Looking forward to the game, taking my two 20 something brothers, my wife and 5yr old son but boy isn't it going to be cold :o Does it feel much/any colder for the fact it's in an open stadium?

Pies, pastys, burgers and yeah its gonna be ******* freezing

Wrap him up in a big coat and some gloves and a scarf :)

Stadiums are Freezing now you have to sit down :(
In the old days a few thousand bods pressed up to you & some decent Surging kept Everyone warm. That & jumping up & down like a Looney shouting your mouth off :D
Pie + Pasty + Tea if with family or beer with the Lads.

depends on the stadium. used to get utterly freezing at highbury pretty much any stand. but emirates seemed much warmer. although it should have less wind being a wrap around style, between the back of the stands and the roof there is massive gaps they've left open which does let a lot of cold air in. the extra 20k people have warmed it up a lot :p

brentford, the terraces, they were painfully cold in the dead of winter, opposite stand wasn't so bad though.

as for food, brentford, dead dogs cut up and put in pies , tea and those dodgey cheap bottles of unhealty looking coloured fizzy drinks, emirates pizza and a coke for £4 or something :( at least its ok pizza, hot dogs, and yes, bovril, hot chocolate and dodgey caps that don't fit on.

nothing like the atmosphere in a great game, nothing more dissappointing that losing, in the bitter cold, in a crap game so hope, well, whichever team you're going to watch will win.

just be aware and warn everyone, if you do anything stupid, fall over while celebrating, or walking down the stairs, spill bovril all over yourself or some 90yr old grannie, you will end up on 3rd eyes saturday morning on sky sports :p

You managed to get married and have a kid before you went to a football match??? Boy are your priorities mixed up;)
lol lack of money and time has been the culprit there.. plus I am now working through my list of things to do before I snuff it (sounds morbid I know!) so the Saints have given me/us five free tickets just cause I'm classed as a terminal cancer case :) Plus we have a stretch limo to take us down in style, going to be a bonzer day.. I just hope the Saints can pull out a win to top it all off.

Steakbake sounds ace and my son is all ready with his Saints hat and scarf set etc.. I'll post some pictures later if anything interesting happens - that's a point, I presume cameras are allowed?

Enjoy your day mate!

Cameras are allowed at every game I've ever been at. Never been to an English match though!

yeah, camera's are fine. night games you see flashes going off like mad around the stadium. although, i'd guess more camera's go off for arsenal vs inter :p

seems ruddy cold up here in london, assuming its windy down there on the coast i'd say wrap up as warm as possible, despite having joint problems i still manage to never put on enough clothes, a couple beers is a good way to keep warm though ;)

Well, a cracking day was had by all!

We had a stretch limo there and back (courtesy of my stepdad) and got there in time to take advantage of the pie and pint for a fiver deal.. chicken balti pie (lovely!)and a pint of Tetleys went down well!

We had tickets in row AA so a pretty good view in all - I thought my five year old may get a little bored but he loved it!

1-0, not the best display of football ever and it could have ended up going either way but a fair result in the end :)

Me and my two brothers on the way down.. mmm, champers!

Glad you had a good day dude :)

Sorry to hear about your illness :(
Hey, glass half-full - I still have time to do all the things I wanted to, including the match yesterday so all isn't bad :) Looking at a trip mountain scaling in Scotland after the New Year if I'm still around!
