Multiply by 3.

Add 3, then multiply by 3 again.

You will get your answer by adding the two digits together to find your all time favorite movie.

As soon as I read the "multiply by 3" bit I knew it was a trick.

I didn't even look at the list first

If you pick x, your resulting number is always 9x+9 which is, of course a multiple of 9. And for any multiple of 9 between 9 and 90, the digits add up to 9.
