Hi,

Where have all the mATX or small form factor psu's gone from ocuk? There used to be a few listed a while back but it all seems to be power monsters these days.

Just after a good quality mATX power supply for an existing setup. Cases are also generally shipped without psu's, but then I wouldn't want to get a new small case just to get a new psu, and of varying quality.

As far as I am aware, ATX PSU's fit in mATX cases. I've got a Antec NSK 3480 (mATX case) with a standard size ATX PSU inside it, as well as a Coolermaster elite 341 (mATX) with a standard size ATX PSU too.

What case have you got that you want a new PSU for?

I've recently moved a SFF pre-built rig into an older ATX case as I couldn't find any compact PSUs anywhere. The original 250W psu was mounted 'over' the motherboard, held up by a extension of the chassis, and definitely would not have held a normal-sized PSU.

mATX psu's are the same height and width as ATX psu's (i.e, the rear panel) but are considerable shorter. They also tend to have smaller fans on the rear of the psu rather than a large one on the base which is the trend these days. The power cables also tend to be shorter (and less of them) which is very useful for cable management in small cases.

In some cases an ATX psu can be used but makes fitting the likes of cd roms etc a pain, if not impossible as the power supply intrudes into the relevant area of the case.

As for the case - it's an unbranded small sized mATX tower, although I have a small cube case that could do with one as well. They are an ideal size for a project I have planned - the psu is the only requirement at the moment.

On a side note that antec case looks a nice case, shame that ocuk don't seem to stock it. :(
