Receiving part of my new pc today but wanting to gen up before everything is complete so would appreceate some advice before hand.

CPU.

Max safe volts under custom water?
Cpu?, SA, vtt, etc or whatever they are called on this board, what can be left on auto and which are the ones to tweak.

And keep hearing about cache, uncore, whats this??

RAM

Max volts for these sticks on air? Do they scale past 1.75v?
Whats best on this platform with these?, and of course if possible

2400 c9
2600 c10
2666+ c11

Any guides or info would be great thanks.

Coming from 3770>3930>4770 if this helps, but not had a PC for 5 months so a bit rusty!!

Ill be interested in this thread as well Nickolp. Got the same cpu and board myself. But my ram is samsung greens that i carried over from my spec in sig. Im on high end air and ive heard that 1.25v is a good ballpark figure with haswell on air. Obviously with wc youll have a bit more headroom than me. But the previous owner of my chip had it at 4.6ghz on 1.25v under a megahelims with low speed fans. K2 cooler here in a case with dual akasa piranhas, (1900 rpm max). Still reading up on haswell oc'ing before i commit. The options on this board is mind boggling.

Found this, but some of the volts seem high??

Which sticks are they???

Initially just overclock multi and uncore. Start at like 45 multi, 42 Uncore multi 1.25 Vcore and Cache volts. Test with all others at stock. SA, IOA, IOD are basically different IMC volts.

1.35v is tops on these chips without modification. The thermals are terrible. With mod 1.4v tops on water.

Cheers, will give those a try. On a side note, is it neccesary on this board to use the extra gpu power molex connector when running sli? Theese cards arent the most demanding power wise, and have ran fine in an x58 and a z77 setup. Both of which didnt feature such an extra connector. Last board i had with similair was an asus nf4 s939 model.

Sticks are these http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-029-TG&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=1387
So if you have any initial timings that would be great.

Waiting to get my hands on a direct die mount, then i'll be ripping its head off!

Would also like to know about the molex for sli? Got 2 780 classy's heading my way tomoz :D

Thx 8Pack

No need!!!

Those are Samsung IC. Depends what your tuning em for?? Bench C9-12-12-21 1T DDR2600 for everyday use 10-12-12-28 1T same speed.

Seconds 6-11000-12-5-26-5-5-8 Thirds 6-6-5-20 auto last three 13-13-13 (For everyday use) 1.65v ish.

Figured I'd ask this in here rather than make my own thread, as I'm pretty much set on buying the same components as nick (4770k, MVIF, TG 2600 CL10)...

Did you say you had a naked HW chip running on water 8 pack? I'm interested to see what gains temp wise you saw, as I'm struggling to see many using direct to die waterblocks on these chips and their results. Guess I'm hopeful if i get a bad clocker i'd be able to counter it with volts and not worry about temps.

20c sounds good to me :D

I was all set for ivy e, then review after review basically pointed out that gains are minimal over sandy e, meaning if I got a bad clocker it may even be a backwards step, didn't fancy paying £470 for a slightly better imc, so figured I'd go haswell for at least a massively better imc.

Plus haswell means I can spend more on a gpu or two :D

Are there any optimum setteings for this chip, like straps etc, what on the mvif can help stabilise a higher oc.
Are there any volts settings i can tweak to reduce temps? Basically i'm after a template!
Think i got a bad one!!
Needing 1.3125v for a stable 4.5ghz, temps hitting 84c on aida stabillity, this is delidded/lapped

Whats the way to tell you have a good one? May start binnig.

Still had stability issues at that voltage. Now running at 1.36v, max temp 85c running aida, going well at the moment.
Been running memtest all morning just to rule ram out and thats fine at 2600mhz
Still learning a lot about the board and haswell, its more complex than ivy so will take a while longer to figure out.
And whoever at intel decided to put vrm's on the die need shooting, great for mobile platforms i'm sure, but for overclocking desktops, c'mon intel leave it out ;)
