Just about to rip out my existing loop , and fit a dual loop.

Are any owners of this board watercooling the NB fusion block directly ( without the 1/2 to 3/8 tubing adapters ) ?

I'm looking at fitting Masterclear 7/16 tubing directly to the NB barbs ( leaving out the adapters , it looks cleaner ) .

Anyone ?

SE barbs are 3/8" iirc, 7/16" will likely be too loose, the 3/8" tubing supplied with the adapters wasnt exactly tight fitting.
 
I've been running it with the adapters for a few months now , with no problems.

Just wondering if anyone has cooled it without the adapters.

I've seen one of these set up with the adaptors supplied with the mobo, tbh it looks a bit messy to me due to the main tubing being 1/2". What really interests me though is how much flow is lost in a one loop system by having the NB in the loop with these step down adaptors? Is it significant compared to the restriction you get in the CPU block itself anyway?

Can't answer exactly , but here are the flow rate comparisons between 1/2" and 3/8th :


TEMPS

3/8 ths / 9.6mm barbed = 33.89C
7/16 ths / 11.1mm barbed = 33.79C
1/2" / 12.7mm barbed = 33.77C


FLOW RATE

3/8 ths / 9.6mm barbed = 5.7LPM
7/16 ths / 11.1mm barbed = 6.3LPM
1/2" / 12.7mm barbed = 6.35LPM

So even if the entire loop is reduced to 3/8th flow because of the NB size you are losing .6 LPM in flow rate.

The upshot is , aslong as you have a decent pump , pushing a minimum of 3LPM , the effect on heat is minimal.

ah ok read it correctly... I use Masterclear 7/16 and you have to use the adapters no matter what, they just dont fit on...
