Ok, im about to drop some wedge, and get a E8500 chip, along with a new cpu cooler. Its my thinking, if i get either of these boards new, it wont have the right bois to simply plug in a E8500 and away i go ? Also is the maximus worth the extra over the PK5 premium (ok i get its a diff chipset) as regards to better clocking ? The wi-fi on the premium is of no interest to me, except resale value, and i do not wish to run daul graphics cards again, so 2 x pci-e x 16 im only going to use one. Ive been inform by several people that the maximus is a good (better) of the two board if not pricey, and the PK5 premium is also decent, but is either better for the new E8500 ?

Both good boards , i have had both , if you dont need the dual x16 lanes pcie then go for the premium

Ok, so no real benefits from the maximus ? , and do either support the chip from new, will i have to update the bois on either b4 it`ll run a E8500 ?

I Had the maximus formula se but got rid of it and got the P5K Premium.

Main reason for me was i needed a serial port and a add on card was £40, the p5k does just as good a job at clocking my Q6600 and has better connectivity for a lower price
