I agree styles make fights but remember when Cotto fought Pacquaio it was at a catch weight that suited Pac. Cotto looked drained against Pac. Mayweather didn’t want a handicap catchweight to fight Cotto and prefers to man up and fight at the full weight.
Well you say that Cotto looked drained against Pac, but I don't remember this being the case. He weighed in at 145 against pac, only 1 lb lighter than his previous fight which was against clottey.
You can make an equally compelling argument against the JMM - Mayweather fight. Marquez looked more comfortable at the weight, and was noticeably leaner against Pac. That's on top of the fact that PBF ignored the weight limit and came in 2 lbs over.
I hate all these catchweights and wish we could do away with them so that we could have a more straight forward analysis. But here it goes both ways so I think we can judge the differences between performances on styles rather than weight differences.
Addressing some other posts, as the fight went on, Cotto started timing and landing good shots on Mayweather, on and off the ropes. If you think Mayweather is in the business of letting himself get hit in the face to entertain people, you're wrong.
