MBP 15" retina 3-4 weeks!!

I was going to do the same but looking at the performance increase from Keplar (mainly due to this) and the new Ivybridge i coughed up the rest.

So did you buy the Retina or non-Retina one? Is the amount of lag the same if you pick any of the resolutions above standard? Or is it worse the more the resolution, if you see what I mean?

The lag is minimal and it is worse when using scaled up resolutions (ie beyond best for retina). I expect it will be resolved in future software updates - the system is perfectly capable of driving the scaling, it just only seems to make the 98% right now (perhaps power saving - a rMBP runs far quieter and cooler than a predecessor).

Scroll lag is only so visible as we are so spoiled with natural smooth feedback on the Mac and iOS.

:(

Guess there's no chance that it's accidentally running on the Intel HD Graphics 4000 rather than the NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M?

No, the 4000 is supposed to be 4-5 times more powerful than the 3000-series so *should* be capable (although admittedly could be the source of the problem, might have to be set to discrete the majority of the time to solve it. If so then battery = not good)

Yeah, it's gets increasingly worse the higher the scaled res. It does make me question why Apple didn't just have resolution options on there as well. It's like they knew it wasn't capable.

It is not minimal. On the highest resolution the if you move a window around the desktop space the interface is visually very choppy and almost looks like visual tearing. If you resize windows from the bottom right hand corner it's choppy too. I didn't bother trying the extremely "intensive" mission control as that would have just been hideous to look at. I hate that and wouldn't expect that from a 2 grand laptop. Hope it's fixed with ML but they didn't have that in the retard infested Stormfront down here.

Makes sense. If they can optimise it correctly for the 4000 intel chip then it's all good. I'd set mine to fast graphics all the time mind when plugged into power! :p

No, it was gone when set to either. Whatever is causing it went away; it most be some rouge process, or something going wrong in OSX.

It came back earlier, but has since gone again.

So for the past week I've actually made proper use of my Retina MBP, rather than having it attached to a monitor.
My simple conclusion is that this is a must-buy because of the display. Forget everything else about it, the retina display is so much better than anything else out there that you can forgive the compromises. Apple are so annoying in how force you to do things their way, but they build the best hardware out there - and I certainly couldn't go back to Windows.

Re Lag:
I've used the Mountain Lion GM and I have sometimes noticed lag on some websites, it's not always consistent though, the same page will sometimes be just fine. This is no hardware limitation, that's nonsense, it's a software problem caused by the scaling which I hope will be resolved. This is the flagship Mac so I'm sure Apple are working on this.

I ordered one of these a few weeks back, work then gave me a regular MBP, so i cancelled, or so it thought. It turned up today, so now i have to send it back.

Its most certainly a software issue, there is zero lag running natively in windows, running 1440x900 in Mac mode, and when you force the GT650 on, the lag is removed.

Hopefully mountain lion will give it a fix as well as having a proper 2880x1800 resolution in mac mode rather than only really being able to use that in windows.

Another video with a few more games running at native res.

Mark i just popped a thread in the Apple software section, wandering if you could help as you know your stuff :)

ill put it in here as well

Evening Gents,

I'm having a problem with bootcamp and I'm swear im doing it correctly. I started boot camp and used it to create and a bootable usb disk from an iso and told it to download the required drivers. So that happened no problem. Windows installed and everything. How ever when i go into windows it doesnt have any drivers. nothing really works in terms of the display, wireless and all the rest.

Can any one shed any light ?
