Right had a party with a couple mates on Saturday and my MBP came under fire from a glass of wine :(

The wine splashed over the keyboard are and we managed to clean it up pretty quick. Initially the pad wasnt responding but after a few hours of drying out its back to working. Problem is the keyboard back light seems to be duller in areas and some keys are way brighter. On top of that the space bar and some other keys are way less responsive than they used to be. seems like the wine has gotten in and caused them to stick slightly.

Now the machine is only a couple months old and will be under warranty, I am just wondering where i stand with this? Would Apple take this and fix it?

Its just the keyboard and the back light to be honest but its definitely not right and i dont know if Apple will fix it :(

They probably won't fix it, because the machine will have liquid sensors that will tell the Apple rep that it's been in contact with liquid, and the damage won't be covered by warranty.

Is it covered by house insurance?

Yeah thats what i thought :(

As I use the thing I feel th cebar is getting worse, seems to be the bottom half of the keybord that was affected...... nightmare!

I'll take it to the Glasgow store at some point and see what they say.

Book it in as the keys being a bit unresponsive. What's the worst that can happen when you arrive? They say it's liquid damage and you have to pay for a fix. The best? They replace the keyboard. I say it's worth a try.

Yeah I've read that the new MBP have a liquid sensor under te keyboard that can show the amount of moisture in the system. But I am up for trying to get a replacemnet, whats the procedure, do I call the Glasgow store and explain it and get it booked in?

To be honest, I would take it in and ask for it to be repaired. For example, if something went wrong with your screen in a year, they may well find water/wine damage and just blame it on that and not repair it under warranty. Or at least go into an apple store and ask someone.

A small update on this, I took some of the keys off and claned them with some wipes and that seems to have resolved the sticky keys. It's just the back light on the keyboard that has faded a bit and to be honest I can live with that.

I don't think it warrants claiming on the house insurance as it's still working. I might try taking it to the Apple store and see what the say but I am just glad its still in one piece and working. Could have turned out a lot worse!

Thanks for the suggestions though :)
