He'll have respect of the players - and that's half the battle. There's plenty of experienced managers out there who do not demand respect.

The guy is a winner and he's been surrounded by winners since day dot.

Yea your right, with his extensive international experience, vast experience of the European game and 30 odd years of management and being twice in charge of one of the italian giants of the world club game, OGS is almost experienced as Hodgson.

people getting on Hodgson's back annoy me, he's a true gentleman how many of those are left in charge of our clubs, people are too use to sir Alex spitting his dummy out all the time. England are ****, we never had a chance in Euro 2012 and now the further we get past the group stage is a bonus, but we knew that anyway (apart from Redknapp fan boys)

OGS has experience with man utd youth team could be risky but he may well be the next RDM. The best managers do seem to be those who had nondescript careers as players though

But everyone likes him! Nobody in the known universe dislikes the guy, which will help the fan base after the disaster of McLeish.

Plus young and got something to prove usually works (even in management) when there isn't pressure of things like European football, all he'll have to do is finish in the top 10 and have a few good cup runs to build for the next couple of years.

Perfect appointment really....
