McCleish gone

That isn't actually what he said though according to what I've read - just what Sky/BBC are jumping onto.

What he apparently actually said is that he hasn't received an offer and that he will handle the situation if it arises that he gets an offer - but as of today, he has two years left on his contract and he intends to stay.

He hasn't ruled it out essentially.

Exactly.

I think he'd jump at the chance if Randy just pulled his finger out of his bottom :p

I'm not so sure - I can see him staying even if he gets an offer, after all he's challenging for another title and is in the CL added to his massive love for the club.

The whole owner situation could have soured it a bit, though.

Indeed, basically what happened is one of Norway's richest men (part Molde owner) had a fit and decided to sell up his shares in the club yesterday when Ole was travelling around.

Villa appear to be interested in him but haven't tabled a formal contract offer yet, so until then he's just trying to keep the owner sweet in case nothing comes of it.

His body language at the PC this morning spoke volumes - its blindingly obvious he wants Villa - just a case of Villa reciprocating.

He's played it precisely how anyone would, and he did NOT look happy to be there.

I wouldn't say it's blindingly obvious he wants to go to Villa etc.

He loves Molde massively and I imagine he's disappointed in the owner withdrawing all of his funds etc as it hurting the club as well - it's a situation that shouldn't have happened as the club gave him permission to talk to Villa and then did that.

I'm sure that this played a large part in the way he looked annoyed.

If Lerner offers him the job then we'll see but my money is on OGS ripping Lerners arm off - his agent stayed in B'ham for extended talks, OGS's wife even came over too - no doubt to discuss schooling/housing etc.

Molde play Sunday - it'll be interesting to see his reaction to the fans final whistle!

Amongst all of the absolute madness of the CL, this has happened with Ole. The words haven't been released by Ole himself I don't think - but the answers of which he gave to the owner has been released by the director, Tarje Nordstrand Jacobsen. They are now seemingly trying to tarnish his reputation and make him look bad.

Which, translated apparently reads (Chap from Norway on RedCaf)

Will you be in charge of MFK for the remainder of the season?
- That is a hypothetical question, but if I get an offer, I will leave as soon as possible, most likely after the match against Hønefoss.

If/when you leave, will you take any of the staff with you?
- I will take Mark Dempsey and Richard Hartis.

If/when you leave, do you intend to take any of the players with you?
- Yes, I will give an offer to Magnus Wolff Eikrem.

I cannot see him staying on as the manager if this is now true. They gave him permission to talk and are treating him like this now after, it's as if they wanted to just trap him. Madness, a horrible way to act.

^ Yes, that's all correct (the translation).

Interesting times and it seems that Molde are being morons about it all.

About time, he's been rubbish from the start of the season at Villa, anyone who can sell Young and Downing yet STILL not give Albrighton many starts needs their head looking at. I saw him playing two rightbacks at times FFS, I mean Alan Hutton at right mid, SERIOUSLY Alex?!? He'd then cap it by playing three strikers (Bent, Heskey, Agbonlahor) so basically a non-existant midfield.

When he was at Birmingham he often seemed to be setup to try and win 1-0 which was fine with the personnel they had, but I never felt he got the most out of the Villa players who realistically should have been targetting a top-half finish.

As for the replacement, I can't see them getting anyone of MON calibre but OGS might be an interesting option. Lambert doesn't quite stack up for me, I think it would be best for all concerned if he stayed at Norwich.

Solskjaer has ruled himself out of the job now unfortunately.

hmm they held more talks but never actually made an offer and now he's no longer under consideration..... When you factor in the circumstances over MON leaving in the first place and then Martinez opting not to join them last summer there's more than meets the eye with this job

It's being put down to family reasons apparently, according to the Norwegian press.

He also had a meeting tonight with Rokke, the guy who removed the funding. It's being said that he will however be allowed to leave at the next offer that comes in if he wishes, I think.

Champions league or the back streets of Aston with twice as much pressure. Was a no brainer for him really. Villa need an experience premier league head anyway
