I come from a more Windows background but I enjoy the complexity that Linux has to offer and could find a passion in that.

Which one would you go for?

Why are you doing it? Do you have a job where it's useful? Are you trying to make yourself more employable? More info needed.

yes need to make myself more employable
need to broaden my skill set and enhance my knowledge.

where is more money? RHCE?

There probably is more money in the Linux stuff these days, as most people take the windows route.

But having said that - as most people take the windows route... maybe the MCSE will make you more employable as more companies use windows.

I don't even think the newer exams fall under "MCSE" any more. They are more specific, such as MCITP: Sever 2008 Admin, or MCTS: Vista

More money? Depends on supply and demand. There will be more work Microsoft Qualified as it is more widespread. More money maybe with RH but then finding a job doing it is going to be very hard and going to require experience.

Entirely up to you - maybe both - to become the equivalent of the old MCSE 2003 it's 7 exams. To become a RHCE it's one exam so you could do them both.

yep both certainly is

might be worthwhile starting with the hardest and most unfamiliar (RHCE)
