Hello,
Some years ago I purchased a budget blowing Mcubed HFX Classic system and promptly installed a load of old PC components (pentium 4 540!
) but with a graphics card which did the processing of 1080p mkvs.
It unfortunately died a couple of years ago and every since I have been meaning to get new components for it and have a HTPC again!
I know there are a load of things to consider which I would probably miss (Silent PC Review's last build thread from two years ago seemed controversial!)
Any advice on what components to use would be greatly received. Budget is yet to be set (sorry), but basically looking as cheap as possible while maintaining silence and being comfortable build (i.e. I'd prefer not to have to tweak things in the BIOS all day to get it stable).
Use will be playing videos/music and perhaps light server duties.
