Seen it on the metro this morning, seems like they made a mistake and did't want to own up to it.
According to other articles the beach is military owned and this thing isn't uncommon
Uh . . yeh we always land there . . dunno what all those people were doing on a military beach?
Gotta love them crazy Russians
Thats huge, it can carry tanks!
Wonder what the sophisticated weaponry is
But still, that's a rather impressive hovercraft!
Didn't even realise they made hovercrafts that size. I am impressed.
I get the impression it wasn't military owned until now.
Sailors making a bit on the side with water skiing.
It's a hell of a beast no doubt. Would love to see it in the flesh, monster engineering!
Did you know these things existed? I notice you add a lot of military vehicle images and pictures to the separate threads.
Still being used by some navies. The thing is a beast:
THis one has a description of the craft:
Imagine a whole fleet of those coming to pay you a visit.
What happens to a hovercraft if its skirt is perforated?
Sir we are running out of fuel we need to moor somewhere. Put us on that beach ! But Sir there are people there and we don't own it. Once we land on the beach we will own it now take us on that beach now !
I was just going to type, an accurate shot to the skirt might render it not so clever.
Awesomely its nowhere near being the coolest thing the Soviet navy made, this is a Lun class Ekranoplan (ground effect plane)
Capable of flying feet off the sea (evading both sonar and radar) at up to 342 MPH while carrying up to 100 tonnes and armed with six long range anti-ship missiles.
