anyone remember when the royal marines done something similar a few years ago?

20 odd marines stormed a Spanish beach thinking it was Gibraltar.

Yep - and with a thing that size I suspect that it could deal with some fairly decent sized holes before it became an issue - they don't 'pop' so much as leak a little with each hole.

If I was to see that bearing down on me, I don't think I'd even be able to comprehend what it was until it was too late...

Is that a fake picture? Looking at other sources it had 7 engines, 6 at the front, one at the back, and no signs of huge turrets on it.

    Must be fake. :(

ac-130 has the same cannon as
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M102_howitzer for example you wouldn't think it were possible until someone does it
so it's not impossible just unlikely :p

The A-10 "warthog" main gun produces 5 tonnes of recoil. It's 2 engines produce 'only' 8 tonnes of thrust - that's some pretty close maths.

Slightly related, our Royal Marines Commando lads landed on a beach in Spain by mistake in 2002.
