Hi all..

Now I'm not a beginner but could do with other peoples opinions..

My old dear has a 54 plate astra (z16xep)... The engine has started to cut out and make high pitch screaming noises (which is the vacuum being pulled into the engine)!..

I've had a quick look and with it running at idle speed ill pull the dipstick out and the crank case is pulling in loads of air...Also if I pull the oil filler cap off its hard to get off with the pressure that's being applied to it...Now why is it creating such a vacuum in the engine?..I hope I don't have to strip it..

Anyone any ideas?

Take a look along the line of intake, particularly near the airflow metre. Make sure all the clips are tight and that there are no holes anywhere in the pipework. Also because you say its making a screaming noise I would get the intake manifold gasket checked. As Lashout says, it definitely sounds like an intake issue.
