Hi Guys,

Currently using my olde XP3200/9800 Pro 256Mb/2GB DDR400 as a standalone media centre and part mulitplayer system ( When the 2 kids an the missus steal the other pcs in the house )
What i want to do is rebuild it. Currently im using the olde machine on a 40" 1080p Samsung LCD Tv which runs normal DVDs/AVIs fine. I want to be able to run 1080p movies straight from it to get the full benefit from the LCD.
im not to bothered about gaming from it as its only when the other 3 pcs are being used i use it to play C&C3/CS etc.
Im thinking of using the

case, so riser would be needed if a seperate card was suggested. Also space would be an issue.
Down to the basics would be a system that is capable of running 1080p ( Maybe with a BlueRay later) sufficiant cooling but also silent as possible.

Much appreciate any advise on the route to take.

i was expecting to spend around £300>£400 so that spec ( Excluding BR ) was a suprise @ £240. Would the Mobo with HDCP be capable of making a good job of 1080p?

If it isn't then just slot in an ATI 3450, just verify which versions come with the HDMI dongle with audio passthrough first.

Thnxs that link just confirmed what questions i needed answering

With its 128 KB L2 cache and 1.80 GHz clock speed, the Sempron 64 3200+ is too slow for Windows Vista. A full three minutes pass before the system has completed the start-up process and the CPU load falls below 10%. Still, 1080p Full-HD playback at a resolution of 1920x1080 doesn’t pose any problem whatsoever for the CPU when running PowerDVD 7.3. We played back the James Bond movie Casino Royale form a Blu-Ray disc on an LG GCC-H20L drive. We measured the average CPU load of the Sempron 64 3200+ to be 63.13% during playback, with short peaks reaching up to 90%.

It'll be on its way Monday.

Again Cheers
