All, I have found that my trusty WDTV HD (original) is more than capable of playing a 1:1 bluray either as an ISO/MKV/M2TS however if the film has forced subs such as Avatar (Navi) it is unable to play the PGS subtitle stream. So a couple of questions really

1.) Anyone know of another way I can use my WDTV HD to do this?

2.) are there any other media player boxes that can do this well?

3.) is a HTPC the best option?

Thanks,

You may want to check the new PlayON!HD 2 range, they specify BR ISO but not sure how much they'll play. Might be worth checking their forums?

I got that one

bloody brilliant

Picture quality is spot an and its geared for TV rather than PC screens so 1080p 24P is perfect - no awkward res jiggering about needed.

Also, the GUI is the best I've seen - blows the WD out of the water and I couldn't find any other unit from any manufacturer that generically supports as many formats and codecs out of the box as the AC Ryan range.

100% recommend without hesitation :)

The new PlayON!HD 2 range has caught my eye too. Top reviews and can play everything from what i can tell, will be taking my 2TB drive out of my WD essentials play and putting it in one of these. What i disapointment the essentials was!
