Best of luck with this. However, it seems excessive for £55. I know what he did was wrong, and he shouldn't be allowed to get away with it, but is it worth the hassle?
You might not get it back, and it will cost you money (60-80% of what you are claiming in this case) to initiate proceedings. That's the problem...It's a matter of principle. Besides, filing a bit of paperwork is ok with me to get my money back.
hell yes ! plus filling in a form and submitting it is hardly hassle ! if he gets away with it this time he will most likely continue to rip off others

At least I will have the satisfaction that I did everything within my power and I won't feel like an idiot for being conned and do nothing about it. Even if I don't get the money back he will still have a CCJ at least.
police wont do very much for £55 you can use moneyclaim online to file with the courts, but really is it worth it, if he doesnt pay the ccj your hardly going to get bailiffs for £55
oh and this isnt america so you cant claim for emotional distress
Maybe he is a shop?

Was it someone with a low or 0 trust score? Things like this really put me off using the MM. Hope you get it sorted mate and good on you for standing your ground rather than letting it go.
