Hihi, yes ive got an old computer, but if you remember back in the day it was a serious piece of ocing equipment!

Current Spec..
AMD 2500+ Mobile o/c to 2.4ghz
asus ay8nx-e dekux mobo nforce 2 (only 3 memory slots)
6800gt 256mb
im borrowing off my housemate 2x1 gb geil pc4000 but running at 200fsb (i cant get it higher than ~217, have tried the pin trick in the socket too but am quite happy with it at 200 knowing its not going to burn up;), i have got spare 2x512mb geil golden dragon PC3200. im moving house so have to give back the 2x1gb so need your opinions..

in my mobo manual it says i can have 3x 1gb PC3200 but im not 100% convinced since trying twice (borrowed a couple of mates mem exactly the same)with 3x 512mb sticks and only 1 time working, also ive read that nforce2 boards dont like 3x 1gb PC3200.

I currently have win xp installed, ive just started an msce course so will need xp on there for a couple of years for practice, then it will hopefully be still capable of a spare/media type pc running vista.

1/on vista with the more memory hungry apps which would be better 3x 1gb PC2700 or 2x 1gb PC3200???

Also with current games, im a fan of GRAW1&2 and strategy games such as medieval2: total war.

2/In current/future strategy games which would be better 3x 1gb PC2700 or 2x 1gb PC3200???
&
3/In current/future First person Shooters which would be better 3x 1gb PC2700 or 2x 1gb PC3200???

4/ Has anyone had 3x 1gb mem in an nforce2 board?

Thanks for any help!

P.S. When the prices of AGP directx 10 cards go down ill get one of them, its not dead until its dead!!

I didn't think there were any DX10 AGP cards? In all game situations faster memory is going to be required, 2gb of memory is enough for all games at the moment so you shouldn't have any worries there.

If your only going to be using it as a media/spare PC in the future why would you put vista on it? It would probably do better leaving XP on it.

I would go for 2x 1gb PC3200.

They are probably high density dimms, which are crap and probably wont work.

*** going rate for normal 1GB sticks PC3200 are about £35 each.
