I've decided on the following new components:

Intel Q6600 (2.4GHz quad core)
Asus Rampage Formula Motherboard
Asus 4870 X2

I have 2x1GB PC2-6400 800MHz Geil memory but I'm looking to get 4GB of faster 1066+ MHz memory.

Is there an obvious choice I should make, or does personal preference come into play?

Cost isn't a major concern seeing as I'm already spending £600 on the other bits.

Something else that just occurred to me: there isn't any point buying more than 2GB of system memory if my video card has 2GB, is there. Doh!

Hard to argue using anything other than this ram at its price point. OCZ 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-8500C5 1066MHz SLI-Ready Edition Dual Channel DDR2 (OCZ2N1066SR2GK)£28.19 inc VAT

I had 4 gigs of this before and it was very good solid ram and it clocked pretty well too! easily the second best ram I have owned.

I just picked up a Q9450 (£120, score!) instead of the Q6600... does that change anything?

Will any PC2-8500 from a decent brand do the job equally well?
