Hi guys,

I wonder if somebody can assist with a memory upgrade we wish to carry out on an HP ML350 G6 with 2x CPUs?

Assuming the server has no memory in it at the moment, we want to purchase and install 32GB of RAM, but am getting differing answers from our suppliers about how to go about this.

One supplier says we need 4x 4GB and 2x 8GB. Another says 4x 8GB, and best of all the HP memory configuration tool tells us we need 4x 16GB!!

Looking at our dual CPU G6 Terminal servers we have here, they had 6GB installed as standard as 3x 2GB, all installed in the banks for CPU1

Is there anyone out there with experience of installing RAM in an ML350 G6?

Cheers!

As far as I do it on our DL360's we share the ram between the 2 servers.

So were putting 32gb into a server.

CPU 1 - 16GB
CPU 2 - 16GB

Ive always been told its best to evenly distribute it between CPU's.

That was my thinking as well, thanks buddy.

Do you think 4x 8GB would do the job? There are 18 RAM slots on an ML350 G6, 9 per CPU. These are split into 3 channels, each channel having 3 slots.

I'm assuming I can just install 16GB per CPU ( 2x 8GB), with each 8 GB stick in the first slot of the first 2 channels?

Ta :)
