Bit of help required from anyone with experience with Merc's.

The long story cut down to the juicy bits, is that we need a new alarm siren for a Merc A Class. The current one has an internal battery that is draining the main battery at an alarming (excuse the pun) rate.

Mercedes have said that the alarm systems were fitted once the cars came over to the UK and that they can no longer supply parts. They wanted to suggest a whole new system at the cost of £400+.

Anyone know of anywhere that can supply replacement parts for the system, or more to the point who produced the system?

Cheers :)

What mark? The A Class had a whole load of electrical problems. A friend of mine got sick and tired and replaced the ECU which turned out to be the culprit. He did have alarm problems too. Not the same as yours, but one where his alarm failed to engage.

I think its a mark 2, although I'd need to get that checked. The dealer has already sorted some of the electrical gremlins (a load of plugs had pretty much disintegrated). We've nailed it down to this horn, but just need to source a replacement. To be fair I've done no research as I thought I'd turn to the OCUK motors section first!

disconnect the alarm and when it gets stolen you can replace it with something better :D

Exactly my comments when the old man said about it.

serious suggestion

find one with a newer less drained battery from a breakers ?

non serious suggestion:

get rid. This wont be the last electrical problem you'll have with this car.
