Mercedes ML what to look for.

lucky all of my torx was enough to beat this 996 GT3 at vmax, however maybe HummuH1 would explain how the porsche 997 turbo s beat me from a roll on despite having less torque?!??! It must have been my driving i guess!

It's even better in Brabus V12 S guise..

A standard ML420 sticking with a standard E46 M3 up to 90mph, I don't think so, not if the M3 driver was on his game and using his engines rev range. ML63 is quick however and I remember a rather spirited run across some welsh mountain side with one when I was in my GT3 as we all headed to the Phil Price Rally school. It was damp at the time so I had to tread a little cautiously but the ML63 did go some and though not as outright quick as my GT3 there was very little in it in reality.

I really am quite dissapointed that the HummuH1 laid into me and whinged on about Google and how awesome his experience was, yet now people like Tom0 and Housey have pitched up to make the same point that I did despite having owned more performance cars than probably anyone else on here... he's rather silent :(

I'm waiting for them to get the same treatment, given they have the same opinion...

I'd of owned your ass in mine, mine was a Mk2 where as Adam's is a Mk1 and they are MILES faster...........ish. Heard from several people your E55 was going well on Saturday, surprised a few I believe..

You know why i never steam into these disputes because 1 im drunk and 2 it is a bit all on the day, maybe it was wet and the ML got the power down better, maybe the ML got the jump on him, maybe M3 man was in the wrong gear, maybe im talking **** :D

Also what does keep up mean? Still in sight, up his arse on his boot lid? What?

997.2 GT3RS got beat to first corner and 997.2 GT3 only recovered to a car length in front.

lack of torque i guess !;)

after driving one in the wet, the one thing it cannot ever do is get the power down better :p

Well, there's no point continuing to argue is there. I think I'm right based on being in said scenario several times and you think you're right because compuer says "no". I know it's time to give up when playground mentality takes over.

And your last senstance sums it up, it is an opinion, and ours differs. Only real difference is that I've been in the situation and also driven the oil burner in question, no one else who's chipping in seems to have done the same. But hey, thats what its all about, right?

You will hear no more from me on the subject.

I have driven an E46 M3 lots, I have also driven my E39 M5 against my mates E46 M3 and they were pretty much identically matched up to 100mph. In my E39 M5, I was about the same to 100mph than an Aston Martin V8 Vantage, it was also about 2-3 car lengths slower than a Ferrari 355 to 100ish. which means that an E46 M3 would perform very similarly against them.

I HAVEN'T driven an ML420CDI, but I would bet my house that on a dry motorway slip road that I could beat it in an M3, even a wendyhouse one (just in case yours is), let alone a coupe. Its got less horsepower yet weighs 50% more!!

Either he is a far more committed driver than you e.g. carrying more speed off the roundabout on to the slip road, you aren't using the gears / engine properly, his ML is remapped and tuned, the weather is wet or worse and your TC is going into overdrive or all of the above.
