I have Plusnet Unlimited 70/20 Fibre with the BT HH 6.

This router cannot have separate passwords for the 5 and 2.4 GHz networks which is an issue as I want to keep one purely for the wife and I as we are sick of kids (22, 19 & 14 yrs) swamping the wifi.

I was thinking about getting a new router which will permit me to change the passwords so they are different/separate and maybe improve the coverage by looking at a mesh network? Thoughts/recommendations?

Or do I consider Devolo powerline adaptors and get over the issue with too many devices (kids) and not being able to change the password of one of the networks?

Turn off WiFi on your existing router. Then add a Ubiquiti UniFi Access Point. As well as probably having better WiFi coverage you can have 4 SSIDs. Give the kids a different one and then rate limit it so they can only use a fraction of the bandwidth.
