MicroATX Part Suggestions

I will be recycling two of my parts;
  • i7 4770k
  • GTX 1060
I would like to buy this MicroATX case (https://www.overclockers.co.uk/cool...0l-micro-atx-case-black-window-ca-36v-cm.html).

I need recommendations for;
  • Micro ATX Motherboard
  • 16GB DDR4 Ram
  • Modular PSU
I am confused because I do not know if I can use my CPU in any other MB's, I believe I need a 1150 socket but 1150 does not support DDR4, so am I basically done for or is there something I can go for?

I appreciate any and all help, thank you.

Socket 1150 went end of life a long time ago now, so you cannot reuse your CPU unless you find a board second hand or maybe in a shop. I'd just keep the GTX 1060, and sell the 4770K and buy a new board/RAM/CPU, the 4770K will fetch £120-150 presently.

Do a search for H81 motherboard. There are still a few of them about for cheap (Less that £50) You will need DDR3 not DDR4 memory. You can get 16Gb(2 x 8Gb DDR3 1600Mhz) for about £50-60 second hand and you should be able to get a 500w bronze rated modular psu for about £50-60.

Hope that helps.

Glass panel and not plastic

Not able to reuse your current PSU and Ram ?
Google second hand z97 mATX boards

Thanks for the responses, I guess I should have given a little more information. I am honestly satisfied with my current specifications (4770k/16GB/1060), I rarely even game anymore and when I do its usually CSGO/1080p. I just cannot justify upgrading right now to an 8700k+ and the requirements to use that CPU especially with only having a 1060 as I wont really benefit from it and I would be shelling out premium prices for up to date tech.

Of course later down the line (maybe the end of 2019) I will be for sure upgrading to a newer i7 and likely a 1080ti so based on Spectrum's suggestion I am going to go ahead and;

- Sell my current Motherboard, Ram, Aftermarket CPU Cooler and PSU as a bundle.
- Format both my 128GB SSD and 1TB HDD, re-install Windows 10 Pro, Office, Malwarebytes then sell those drives seperatly with said licensed software along with the original licenses.

Purchase a used 1150 Micro-ATX MB (ASUS H81M-PLUS), I have found a few decent ones for around £35 on eBay. Upgrade to some decent 1600Mhz DDR3 and re-use my 4770k/1060.

Essentially, I will be changing my current ATX setup for the same Micro-ATX setup with an upgrade to a 1TB SSD. You may be thinking, whats the point? Well I need to downgrade the size of my setup as I am moving abroad next year and it will just be easier to haul the **** with me. Doing it this way, I should break even as I already have the 1TB SSD all I need is the case, MB, Ram and a few fans.

@ZXSpectrum would love to see some pictures of your final build, equipment list and any issues, problems etc you encountered.

I currently have a huge case that i thought was cool at the time and had a fair few HDDs in there, none of which i need anymore. Looking to shrink my gaming machine right down now and slowly upgrade all my components.

Thanks

would be great if they give it the Tempered Glass treatment - maybe alumin version

Just doing the preliminary work at the moment. Its a build out of older stuff that I have obtained (i3-4130, 12Gb, GTX780) for media playback and emulators for my downstairs Home Theatre System. going to be a couple of weeks (unless I get side tracked) as I want to get a couple of custom bits done ;) also I am struggling to get a GTX780 waterblock so might have to go for a universal.

I have to say its a great case for the money. A little flimsy in places and not much room for cabling but I can manage.. ;) used to it by now.. :D

alphacool gpx for the GPU maybe ?

Im looking to get my VR build in there so it will be a 1070 new mobo, cpu, etc. Any advice on the power brick to use would be useful

I am pretty beginner at this so my only worry will be ensuring that all components stay cool when running under load!

I did see that but at that price I would probably pay the little extra for the EKWB Thermosphere Nickel but trying to keep the budget a little lower as its not a mental build.

I did think of the Alphacool GPU HF 14 AMD/NVidia Smart Motion Universal Nickel Edition as its half the price and considering the age of the GPU it should be fine.

I would recommend a FSP Dagger 600w (But I managed to get that for ahem hem) There are plenty here for all budgets and builds. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/pc-components/power-supplies/small-form-factor?sPage=1&sSort=3

I would say however make sure you price in some braided cable extensions as it would be a mess if not using them.

Boy, I would love to build a system with one of those Silverstone Nightjar Passive PSUs..
